FOR REAL

This is a recipe

For disaster?

For change?

A way to move through the world, while it’s constantly rearranged

You’re not deranged

You are not crazy

You simply feel what one must feel

When the world is simply not taking care of itself

You know what’s good. You know what’s real.

And you simply want more of it

You see no reason for seasons of war —

Yes seasons must change

Because the whole world is tilted

On its axis

Sometimes it works, sometimes relaxes

Sometimes it springs to life

Sometimes it hunkers down for winter

Sometimes it basks in the glow of its very own light

Sometimes it welcomes all the colors, takes a breath, and let’s it fall

Life is a phone that is constantly ringing

And eventually, you must take the call

There’s no such thing as endless summer

But there is always room for swimming

You will never find a thing that never ends

But there’s always room for more beginnings

There is a room within the chaos

There is a world within the void

It’s the one we’re on

Just floating

All together

On a planet with a heart made of fire and steam

But surrounded by blues and greens

And grey, and black and white and stars

Then a basket of oranges and yellows and reds

Welcome the light — it has traveled so far

Just to be here

To witness

Everything that is growing

And it don’t go away when some things begin dying

The world isn’t about simply doing and doing

For real

It’s mostly about trying.
