IN THE GOOD COMPANY OF STOWAWAYS

What lay amongst all that you’ve gathered?

What you gathered for purpose—

But what came in the night?

What hitched a ride on what you reached for?

For what you wanted

Brought with it some things with questions

And some come only with sleep

And some wished only just to sleep

To find a place

Amongst all you keep and call You

To lay in shadows sent by song

To find how long the day can be

To see what all these years

Just may be building

To simply stay by your side

                  And see

What lay here all this time

Just growing into everything else that was growing?

To what do I owe this pleasure?
