ocean synapse / new york + melbourne
Ocean Synapse is a trans-hemispheric digital film experiment and performance by myself and Dr Sarah Jane Pell between New York City and Melbourne, Australia, respectively. Dr Pell and I each filmed our own scenes based on the idea of the ocean becoming a medium for information transfer in the near future. Neither knew what the other was filming until the scenes were played side by side for the first time at WaterWheel’s online symposium for World Water Day 2014 and serendipitous synchronizations ensued. Featured here are two scenes from my side of the conversation, starring myself and John Fredericks, aboard our ship, Horizons.
